Central Victoria calls on Labor MPs to say YES to the Environment and NO to new coal and fossil gas - Turn Up the Heat on Labor, December Lunchtime Vigil #5

Our country is burning, our communities are sweltering and it’s only spring. A terrifying summer looms. And yet the Albanese Government continues to pour fuel on the fire by approving new coal and gas mining.

Join us to Turn Up the Heat on Labor and help demonstrate that communities, everywhere, want the Government to support our safety and futures, not fossil fuel corporations.

When politicians let us down, community leadership must take its place:
- We can see hope in the First Nations communities fighting to protect the country from new coal and fossil gas projects.
- We see it in the global demands, including from our Pacific Island neighbours for no new coal and gas, fossil fuel phase out plans and renewables expansion.
- We see it in the communities that are working together to prepare for and support each other through the bushfire season and other catastrophic consequences of uncontrolled global heating.

Our community must stand together to Turn Up the Heat on Labor and show the politicians that coordinated community action is able to counter the influence of coal and gas vested interests with sustained, creative and, where necessary, disruptive action until our country gets the political leadership we deserve.

We invite you to participate in our series of lunchtime vigils, reaching out to our local MP and the Bendigo electorate with our messages to:
- call out the Albanese Government for its continuing massive support for new fossil fuel infrastructure investment.
- demand immediate Government action to fast-track proposed upgrades to the EPBC Act to extend protection of vital water resources from potential irreversible damage from massive fracking for shale gas.

Please join us on the footpath outside Lisa Chesters Electorate Office (16 Myers Street, Bendigo) 4 - 8 December to stand together for about an hour each day to share with passing traffic and our local Member our demand for a sustainable future and disdain for continued Labor Government support of highly polluting new fossil fuel mining projects.

We encourage you to bring a placard, flag or banner with your personal message, however ready made placards will be available.
All ages are welcome and we'll encourage toots, from passing drivers, bells from cyclists and gestures of support from everyone passing by.

Please join us on Monday 4 December at our first Turn Up the Heat on Labor vigil to show your support for a FOSSIL FUEL FREE FUTURE.

Note: This RSVP is for vigil #1 only.  Please RSVP separately for each vigil date on which you wish to participate.
