Tanya Plibersek Call-A-Thon

What’s happening

The Labor Government is continuing to approve climate wrecking coal and gas projects. Just this month, Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek approved a Gina Rinehart-backed coal seam gas project in inland Queensland that will clear endangered koala habitat and mine gas until 2080.

We have a chance to stop coal and gas for good by introducing a climate trigger that would ensure coal and gas projects are assessed for the climate damage they cause. But the fossil fuel lobby are going hard to pressure the Labor Government to drop their plans to introduce a climate trigger.

The national environmental law reform bills will be going through Federal parliament between now and September, which gives us an important opportunity to push Labor to stand up to the mining billionaires and take meaningful action on the climate crisis by ending approvals for coal and gas and introducing a climate trigger.

People power is all that stands between Tanya Plibersek and the 30 new coal and gas projects on her desk that, if approved, would turbocharge the climate crisis and the extinction crisis.

That’s why we’re launching the ‘Tanya Plibersek Call-A-Thon’! We’re aiming to have the Environment Minister’s phone lines running off the hook, with phone calls going to her office twice every hour for an entire month.
