Labor: No More Coal!

Coal is the single biggest driver of the global climate crisis.

The world’s scientists and the International Energy Agency have been unequivocal – to have any chance of preserving a safe climate, there can be no new coal mines at all, starting right now. But Australia has 69 proposed new coal mines and expansions – more than anywhere else in the world.

Every fraction of a degree of warming we prevent matters. The coal we keep in the ground today can protect lives, livelihoods, and nature for generations to come.

Will you sign the petition calling on the Albanese Labor Government to immediately ban all new coal, oil and gas projects?

Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Minister Chris Bowen and Minister Tanya Plibersek,

The world’s scientists and the International Energy Agency have been unequivocal - to have any chance of preserving a safe climate, there must be an immediate stop to all new coal and gas projects. But Australia has more proposed coal mines and expansions than anywhere else in the world. If these coal projects go ahead, they will blow the world’s chance at keeping warming to 1.5 degrees, and erase the Australian Government’s promised climate gains many times over. Every new coal project that is allowed to proceed destroys cultural heritage and our precious natural environment and will result in our communities battling worse floods, bushfires and heat waves.

Every fraction of a degree of warming we prevent matters. The coal we keep in the ground today will protect lives, livelihoods, and nature for generations to come. We call on your government to protect Australian communities by doing what the science demands and immediately ban all new coal, oil and gas projects.

Yours sincerely,
