Murray Watt: Protect our Climate & Reject Woodside!

Last week, Environment Minister Murray Watt gave preliminary approval to Woodside's polluting North West Shelf gas extension in Western Australia.

If it goes ahead, it would be one of the most polluting fossil fuel project approved in Australia in a decade – unleashing more than 4 billion tonnes of climate pollution, equivalent to a decade of Australia’s current emissions.

The project will also damage the Murujuga Cultural Landscape, a 50,000 year old collection of First Nations petroglyphs, that have been nominated for inscription on the World Heritage List.

But we still have a narrow window of opportunity to stop this climate wrecking project. While the project was widely reported as being approved- the Minister cannot make a final decision until Woodside’s comments are received and he also holds the power to extend the timeframe for the decision or consult the public.

Join us for a powerful community rally at Environment Minister Watt’s office to demand he protect our climate and reject Woodside’s North West shelf gas extension!

BRING your signs and your mates. This will be the first demonstration since Watt has taken office and it’s critical we turn out in force.
