It’s only spring, and already our country is burning, and our communities are sweltering. For many of us across the country, a terrifying summer of climate impacts looms.
Despite this, billionaire corporations like Whitehaven Coal and Santos keep digging up more and more coal and gas, the number one cause of climate change. And our Federal government is enabling this, by giving new approvals to coal and gas corporations and pouring more fuel on the fire.
That’s why it’s time to Turn Up the Heat and demonstrate that communities, everywhere, want the Government to pick the side of our safety and futures, not corporate billionaires.
From 4-12 December, we'll be taking part in one of a bunch of actions happening across the country as part of the national Turn Up the Heat Week of Action!
But first, we need to get planning!
Join us for our Townsville Planning Meeting on Sunday 19 November, 2023 from 12pm - 2.30pm. At this meeting, we will be:
- Deciding on the date/time and location for our Week of Action event;
- Planning the details for the Week of Action event; and
- Hearing how this action is just the start of Move Beyond Coal and NQCC's political work leading into 2024!
Snacks will be provided. Please invite anyone passionate about tackling climate change - whether you are new to the movement, or have been involved for decades, we want you!
