On Tuesday this week, Environment Minister Plibersek approved three thermal coal mine expansions that will turbocharge the climate crisis by locking in 1.5 billion tonnes of carbon pollution - this is more than three times Australia’s total annual emissions.
It’s outrageous.
Labor is trying to hide their ongoing support for fossil fuels by announcing these approvals late in the day during a week of footy finals fever. Right now, we need to make sure we expose Labor’s support for coal and demonstrate that the community won’t stop holding them to account on their commitment to act on the climate crisis.
Join SNAP actions in Naarm on THURSDAY 26th September to say: it’s time for Labor to kick a climate goal and STOP approving climate wrecking coal mines!
