No Faith In Fossil Fuels: Multi Faith Vigil for Climate Justice

In November, a delegation of senior leaders from Christian, Muslim and Buddhist faiths visited key Ministers and MPs in Canberra to urge the Federal Labor Government to put an end to all new fossil fuel projects in Australia, and to listen to the voices of Pacific Island nations calling for Australia to phase out fossil fuels.

Pope Francis has also recently issued Laudato Deum, an addendum to his influential climate encyclical Laudato Si. Here in Australia and globally, faith voices are getting louder, calling on world leaders to take urgent action on the climate crisis. People of faith are invited to join this vigil to send a clear message to the Prime Minister of Australia that
faith communities, as part of a diverse cross-section of Australia, are amplifying the calls from Pacific Island nations that Australia must stop approving new coal and gas.
